Bugatti Insurance
It’s probably fair to say that Bugatti are never going to win any prizes for production numbers. The latest model, some 15 years or so after the last (the EB110) is the remarkable Veyron 16.4.

To simply describe the Veyron as a car is like describing Outer Space as quite big. The story of how the Veyron has come into being is in itself the stuff of legend. Having acquired the rights to the Bugatti name in the early 1990’s, the new owners (Volkswagen) declared their intention to build a supercar to supersede everything that had come before and probably everything there after. The concept of the Veyron 16.4 was born.

With a mandate that the Veyron would produce over 1000 bhp, reach over 250 mph but still have the everyday practicality of a VW Polo the designers and engineers faced challenges never before faced in the development of a car. Every single component has been custom built from scratch. The overall cost of this project to Volkswagen is unknown, but it is widely rumoured that when the research and development is taken into account, that for each car built, Volkswagen will lose somewhere in the region of £5,000,000.

Nevertheless, despite the enormity of the task, despite the cost and despite the need to defy the laws of physics, the Veyron exists and it is hard to argue that it is any thing other than the best car the world will ever see.

The sole UK concessionaire for the Veyron is Jack Barclay of London – part of the HR Owen group. First Point is proud to be the only officially recommended insurer of Jack Barclay.
