Taking basic security precuations - some tips
We have compiled some basic security precautions which are as follows:
Always use other security devices such as a steering lock. Don’t leave valuables including mobile phones, removable navigation systems and other personal possessions on display. These are easy pickings for a thief.
Do not leave money, bankbooks, debit or credit cards in your vehicle.
Driving documents/vehicle registration documents and personal correspondence should always be retained separately from your vehicle. They could help a thief sell your vehicle, provide a feasible story if stopped by police, or even identify the address where you live.
Always remove audio systems such as Radio/ CD/ MP3/ Cassette players if you can. Whether removable or not, all equipment should be marked. It is also advisable to make a note of the serial number should you need to refer to it at a later date.
Keep valuables out of sight whilst driving. Consider keeping all doors locked and windows closed. An opportunist thief can steal handbags and other valuables by opening car doors or even breaking windows while stationary in traffic.
